General Colin Powell - A story worth telling

There's no-one more qualified!

Who doesn't know the name Colin Powell? Having grown up poor in the Bronx as the son of Jamaican immigrants, General Powell attended a public school, unlike many of the career politicians vying for power. At the City College of New York, Powell graduated both as a geologist and, thanks to his hard work and dedication in ROTC, a commissioned 2nd Lieutenant. While in school, however, Powell didn't collect a million-dollar stipend from his parents, instead having to earn his keep working at a furniture store. From the Jewish shopkeepers, he picked up Yiddish, and his deep respect for faith led him to helping Jewish families on the Sabbath.

Starting his long career of service to our nation, then-Lieutenant Powell was deployed to West Germany in 1960 as Commander of Company A. During his training in Georgia, many establishments refused to serve him on account of his skin colour - but his belief in the American dream never wavered, and he dutifully accepted every challenge thrown at him. After two tours in Vietnam, where he was decorated for saving three men from a crashed and burning helicopter, with no regards to his own life.

Having served as National Security Advisor to the Reagan Administration, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President Bush, and with a total of 35 years of military experience under his belt, the father of the Powell-doctrine is ready for his last posting - Commander-In-Chief.
